As the sun went down in Phoenix, Arizona, the excitement rose with the first of two Pro mains happening on the third day of the DNC. Top Qualifier Ryan Maifield fought back from an early mistake to take the win on the final lap.

Team Losi Racing driver and Top Qualifier Ryan Maifield had a smooth start to lead the elite field of drivers around a track that has taken some punishment throughout the week. After five laps, TLR teammate and fifth qualifier Dakotah Phend charged up to the rear bumper of the second place car, HB's Ty Tessman. Phend took advantage of a mistake by Tessmann to move into second and put the pressure on Maifield. Phend then snuck to the inside of his teammate after one of the two triple jumps on the track and took the lead, but then rolled over and dropped to third. Maifield made a mistake over the hip jump and allowed Tessmann into the lead.
Tessmann started pulling away by turning clean laps while Phend and Maifield crashed together in the berm. Phend dropped back, but Maifield didn't lose nearly as much time - and started to chip away at Tessmann's lead. On the final lap, Tessmann's battery voltage started dropping and Maifield caught up, leading to a collision that Maifield acknowledged by stopping to wait for the Canadian HB driver. Maifield attempted another pass when Tessmann went wide after the step-up jump and shot by to the lead.
The 10-minute thriller ended with Tessmann lacking the power to fight back, and Maifield cruised across the finish line ahead of Tessmann with Team Associated driver Ryan Cavalieri working his way past Phend and Ronnefalk to finish third.
