Moving on to Friday's portion of qualifying here at the DNC, the track crew did some light maintanence and track prep to smooth out some of the major potholes and ruts. With heavy water overnight and in the morning, the track was looking prime for some intense 1/8-scale nitro buggy action as today is only for nitro buggy qualifying.

The question of the day was whether or not TLR's Ryan Maifield could continue his hot streak and TQ the final Pro class of the event as he was able to sweep Truggy and E-buggy TQ's on Thursday.
Continuing right where he left off, the Arizona native and fan favorite Ryan Maifield was at it again. In round one, Maifield was playing chaser his entire run pushing maximum effort to catch his young Arizona protégé, Team Associated's Spencer Rivkin. Rivkin was ahead on the clock the entire run, putting in a flawless effort, but on the last lap he caught a pothole and flipped on his lid. Maifield seized the opportunity and took over the lead, setting the fastest time in round one with an 11/7:26.1. His TLR stablemate Dakotah Phend put in a fantastic run to only finish 1.5 seconds back, making it a TLR 1-2. Last year's Truck class champion David Ronnefalk was third best with his HB buggy, just two and a half seconds further behind Phend.
