Round two was held during the hottest part of the day, making tire choice the talk in the pro pits, but it was Ryan Maifield who scorched the track - and secured his third overall TQ in three tries.
Round 2 revealed something quite magical: defending DNC Pro Nitro Buggy champion, TLR's Ryan Maifield, needed just one more round win on Friday to sweep the overall TQ in all of the Pro classes here at the 2016 DNC. All eyes were on Maifield, and the pressure was on. Determined to rise to the challenge, Maifield led his heat from start-to-finish and earned the final TQ - sweeping the PRO classes in style.
TLR teammate Dakotah Phend was off to a slow start in truggy and E-buggy, but has started to find his rhythm in nitro buggy. With a 2nd in round 1, Phend stated that he, "has ran nitro in 6 months" and that he is "starting to get a lot more comfortable" with the track and car. From the B heat, Phend would post the 2nd fastest time in round 2 giving him two 2's so far with 1 round left to go.
Once again staying in the top 3, HB's Ty Tessman threw down a clean run to secure third for the round to add to his second place time in round one. With one more round of qualifying left, Ty will definitely be looking to improve his position to give him the best chance to win Sunday's final.
