Press Release From Dog Days RC:
https://www.facebook.com/DogDaysRC)
Dog Days RC is taking to the streets to help grow our hobby in their region by setting up small make-shift RC race tracks at community events to bring awareness to the sport and hopefully draw in a few new racers along the way.
It's a simple concept that with a few volunteers can be achieved anywhere.
We reached out to several local community events and asked if we can set up a small (20'x30') RC race track for people to try. Note: some events will require a payment for space while others welcome the different vendor to add to their event and will waive the fee.
For the track we are building a safety retaining wall using PVC posts with concrete bases to hold a 4' orange safety fence. We will double up the bottom 1' to add additional rigidity to help prevent run away RCs.
We contacted the local Fire Department to request any old hoses that they replaced to use as lane barriers and will fill them with sand.
We are using a Foam anti-fatigue mat picked up at Harbor Freight and we'll paint a checkered flag pattern on it to use as the Start/Finish line.
Finally we are using a few of the old jumps we don't use anymore from our local carpet off-road track, The Factory RC Raceway (https://www.facebook.com/thefactoryrcraceway).
The vehicles we'll be using are a couple of 2wd Traxxas Slashes as they're a decent entry point to the hobby and can be easily purchased at our local hobby shops.
The racing format will be a heads up race and the first one to reach 5 laps wins!
We are picking up small gold tokens and trophies to give to the winners.
We hope this serves as a blueprint that others can follow and help grow this crazy hobby we all love.
