Hello everyone,

Many have asked us about the 3.5mm shock shaft conversion for the 8ight-X that some of the team run so I wanted to provide the full run down here.

Here is the link:  3.5mm Shock Shaft Conversion

As you know the vehicle comes with our traditional 4mm shock shafts.  These are more durable for the average user and we wanted to maintain the durability in the vehicle we are known for.  However, after much testing, we noticed a particular advantage to having the thinner 3.5mm shock shafts and thus we made it so you could use both in our vehicle.

The main advantage is that it seems to handle the smaller sharper bumps better.  The thinner shafts packs up a little less and this is what accounts for this handling change.

What it comes with:

This kit comes with the guide set, the x-rings, the shock ends, and the shock shafts.  Each of these are also available separately in case you need replacements down the road.

The shock ends are indeed different.  There are separate shock ends for the 3.5mm and the 4.0mm shock shafts due to the thread sizing.

Given all of that info, I wanted to share how this conversion package is installed.  This is installed in this order: Thin guide, x-ring, thick guide, x-ring, lower guide (with thicker portion in).

Hopefully that image also helps some.

Also, one other item we noticed is that after some time, some "sticktion" can occur and this is due to the thickness of the center thick guide.  Given this, we recommend sanding this down right away from 2.5mm to 1.9mm as shown in the below images.  We will update this moving forward but some of these made it in and this is an easy adjustment to make.

I hope this helps and good luck at the races!
