Flashback: 2013Denver Houghton becomes an overnight celebrity
There is something about R/C car racers that while our hobby may seem "mild-mannered", we always find some sort of shenanigans and excitement on almost every race day. Sometimes it is pranking your buddies, sometimes its doing outrageous dares, or in this case...it's eating a beetle for $400 at the 2013 ROAR 1:8 Nitro Offroad Nationals.
Denver Houghton is without a doubt an impressive driver on the race track, but his actions off the race track is what called for this week's edition of "Flashback Friday". Denver became an overnight celebrity at the 2013 ROAR Nats, not by winning a championship, but instead chowing down on the biggest beetle in Texas. Among many fellow racers no one remembers who won what that weekend...but they ALL remember this guy.
