The 2016 ROAR Fuel Off-Road Nationals at Thornhill Racing Circuit left a significant impact on the record books - for a number of different reasons.
Ryan Maifeld looked poised to become the fourth driver to win multiple Buggy class championships after sweeping qualifying, but came up less than two seconds short of winning the final - and Spencer Rivkin claimed his first ROAR Fuel Off-Road Nationals victory. It was Team Associated's second win, and the first for both Maxima/Mx engines and JConcepts tires. From 1997 to 2008, no one ever won more than once - but Rivkin's victory was the first by a first-time winner since 2010.

Ryan Maifield's record-setting fourth victory in the 1/8-Scale Truck category also earned him the distinction of being the first driver to win either class with three different vehicle manufacturers. The Arizonan also gave REDS their first ROAR title, and Team Losi Racing their second in the Truck class, as well as JConcepts' fourth.
