Last weekend, Marc Rheinard won a record sixth Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions - extending his record of titles over Barry Baker, who won four times between 1999 and 2003. It was the German’s fourth win at Tamiya America Raceway, but his first driving something other than a Tamiya chassis - giving the Infinity IF14 its biggest international victory yet.
It was eleven years ago at the same track that Rheinard won his first Reedy Race, and he did so in spectacular fashion - with five wins and one second place equalling a near-perfect score with six of eight rounds counting.

The shining moment came in the third round, when a mistake dropped him to fifth and he raced back to the front in the final two laps. The accomplishment proved decisive, as he beat fellow world champion Atsushi Hara by just one point.

It was a banner weekend for Tamiya; in addition to scoring its second Reedy Race title (after Surikarn Chaidajsuriya won in 2004), Rheinard’s teammates Josh Numan - the Open Modified winner from the previous year - and Hupo Hönigl finished third and fourth.
As for fifth place finisher Andy Moore? He won the IFMAR ISTC World Championship later that year.
