We are less than one week away from the start of the only remaining major annual outdoor dirt off-road 1/10-scale race in America - the legendary Hot Rod Hobbies Off-Road Shootout. 2018 will be the 21st Annual Hot Rod Shootout, an event that over the years has kickstarted the careers of many top pro drivers today. The Shootout's outdoor setting was once nothing out of the norm, however, with 99% of America's 1/10-scale off-road races now being held indoors, the Shootout has become an anomaly.
As racers prepare for the 21st Annual Hot Rod Hobbies Off-Road Shootout, we flashback to the last ever outdoor Cactus Classic held in 2014 - which has left Hot Rod as one of the only major 1/10-scale outdoor off-road events still alive in America today.
The Cactus Classic was a world famous event which gathered nearly 400 entries from around the globe annually. The event was ran for 30 years, and hosted by Scottsdale R/C Speedway (SRS) in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 2015, SRS moved the famous outdoor event indoors to a new facility in 2015. SRS closed their doors and laid the legendary event to rest in 2016.
Today we flashback to the last ever outdoor 1/10-scale off-road Cactus Classic, with the 5150 Media Productions "Come Drive With Us - Cactus Classic 2014".
