Gotzl Takes 2 at 2019 Czech Nationals R1

Race Report by Max Gotzl

The first round of 1/8 scale Czech National series 2019 took place last Saturday at the Kolin track.

As usually there was open practice in the afternoon on Friday. I went there with my dad as soon as possible to make both cars even better and for me to feel good.

On Saturday morning qualifications started with me showing great speed, taking Q1 with Nitro and E buggy with comfortable lead. The qualifying continued well for me as I took the 1st place in Q2 and Q3 with E buggy, and Q3 with Nitro. That meant the double overall TQ in both, with E buggy Marek Schiller was 2nd and Ales Bidovsky 3rd. With Nitro it was Jiri Mara 2nd and Jiri Benes 3rd.

We managed to drive the first leg of the E buggy mains, in which I took the tone-to-tone win, close behind me finished Ales and Marek Ornst finished 3rd. After about 10 minutes in the first Semi final it started raining and it was getting worse and worse. So when the Semi finished, we waited a while, but the rain didn’t stop, so the race was cancelled.

The final results in Nitro were taken from qualies and for E buggy from the A1, which meant I took the double win! In E buggy it was Ales and Marek respectively and in Nitro Jiri Mara in front of 3rd Jiri Benes.
