The Banana RC Track in Batam Island, Indonesia hosted the FEMCA 1/8-Scale Nitro Buggy Championship last weekend, with 96 drivers attending from Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Four-time and defending champion Kyle McBride earned TQ honors after each driver’s best four of six ten-minute qualifying rounds were counted, but a battery problem prevented him from competing for the win. In the end, it was 2008 world champion Atsushi Hara who drove a Mugen Seiki MBX8 to the title, with XRAY’s Jason Nugroho two laps back in second and McBride recovering for third.
