Local Mississippi racer, Tommy Hudson, lost his battle with cancer recently. Flowood Raceway is hosting a memorial/benefit race in his honor on October 5th. Any help for raffle items or donations is appreciated as all the proceeds will go to the Hudson Family.

A word about Tommy Hudson:

Tommy (AKA Buddy) Hudson was born March 23, 1973. He grew up and graduated High School in Crystal Spring, MS in 1992. Buddy has lived most of his adult life in the Rankin County area.  In December of 2016 Buddy met Brandy Pope and it was love at first sight. They had a whirlwind romance and he swept her off her feet. In April of 2017 Buddy married Brandy and gained 2 beautiful children, Desiree age 11 and Mason age 3. Things were looking good, life was great and then Buddy and Brandy were hit with a terrible blow.  On June 1, 2018, Buddy went to GI Associates on June 1, 2018 to get his esophagus stretched because he was having trouble swallowing and they found ulcers and a yeast infection, they told him to come back on June 4, 2018, to have more biopsies done on the ulcers in his esophagus. GI Associates called on June 5, 2018, and said that the ulcers were cancer and they wanted him to come back on June 6, 2018, to have a CT scan done. He had the CT Scan done on June 6 and no more than 5 minutes after he got home the doctor called and said that he needed to get to St. Dominic Hospital fast because he had a blood clot in his right lung, come to find out he had 2 blood clots instead of one. He were in the hospital for 3 days. He had a PET scan done on June 11, 2018 and saw the oncologist on June 12, 2018, who confirmed their worst suspicions. Buddy was diagnosed with Stage IV Esophageal and Stomach Cancer. He has had four rounds of chemotherapy with no results. Another CT indicated the cancer had moved to his bones and liver. Unfortunately, Buddy lost his fight with cancer on Friday September 21st, 2018. We know he now sits in glory with God but he is greatly missed.
