The Italian LRP technician Andrea LEO unveils the new LRP X44 engine. Here it is the "dark knight" enclosed in 345g of weight.
At the German company, the engineers of the award-winning company LRP, which for over 50 years have been designing and manufacturing electronic components for R/C, accompanying drivers from all over the world on the highest steps of the podium, today they give life to a new project, which contains in a sensored engine for R / C machines in 1/8 scale, the best materials and the best technologies in order to obtain a perfect combination of power, torque, delivery and longevity to fit well in all tracks and in the most diverse working conditions.
All this is called LRP X44 modified... a revolutionary engine already titled European Champion 2019.
Open the package immediately jump to the human eye the elegance and aggressive style of this new engine, thanks to a case built in black anodized aircraft aluminum, having a diameter of 41.5 mm and a length of 68.0 mm , with frequent milling found throughout the case and on the front / rear cap, which contribute tangibly to better heat dissipation.
The front cap has 6 carbon steel locking screws belonging to resistance class 10.9. On the same, found two holes with thread useful for housing 3mm screws and four holes for 4mm ones, this to better adapt to the various engine mounts on the machines on the market.
On the rear cap we find two 2mm screws that hold the pcb of the sensor unit and three 3mm screws in 10.9 steel which, besides taking care of the closure of the cap itself, loosening them, allow, thanks to the rotation of the cap, to mechanically modify the advance of the motor in a range from 0 to 15 degrees in both CCW (Normal) and CW (Reverse) modes.
In the back part of the case there is a connection pcb to house the three cables coming from the ESC, which measures a good 2.0mm thick with the tracks built in copper to have the best electrical conductivity and the lowest resistivity.
Opening the motor found the stator group with three-phase winding in superior quality copper and a 4-pole rotor with magnets wrapped in Carbon / Kevlar tape which ensures it has a weight of only 70.5 g, very important value on a rotating mass.
To ensure a precise and fast rotation of the rotor, observe two precision bearings, select from one of the leading companies in the sector, the NMB, which from a first examination has been identified in the construction tolerance system in ABEC9. In this case the front bearing measures 5X16X5, while the rear one 5X11X4.
I think that LRP is written on the gaming table in the 1/8 electric category with three aces and this new engine is the fourth card that is missing to win with aces poker on the R / C competition table, where there are more and more copies of projects that have been in existence for some time.
Andrea LEO.
