Joe Bornhorst announced on Saturday via social media that he will be retiring from professional RC racing at the end of 2024.

"I’ve been pretty quiet on social media in the past couple of months and thought it was time to check in and announce some things.

As 2024 winds down, it also marks the end of my professional racing career.

Growing up racing motocross, I always had the dream of racing for a living. As many know, my time in motocross came to an early end at 17 years old. I was able to shift that dream a bit into racing RC cars, and I’m proud to say that racing RC has been my job for just over 10 years now. I’ve gotten to travel the world, make life long friends, win some big races, and most importantly live out my childhood dream. It’s been one hell of an experience.

RC has made me into the person I am today, and to be honest I’m not quite sure where I would be without it. I met my beautiful wife through racing, have since had one of the happiest little girls you have ever seen together, and built a great life, which in reality is just beginning.

From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank all of the companies and individuals that helped me along the way and made my career what it was. This racing stuff is all about the people you surround yourself with. Even though there were some bumps in the road, I always did what I believed was best in the moment and I have no regrets.

I’ll still be around here and there, racing will always be a part of my life. I look forward to just enjoying myself, attending some events I’ve never been able to, and using my knowledge to help drivers and companies improve their products. Thank you to the companies that are going to continue to support me in whatever racing endeavors I get into!

At this point, I’m still unsure of what exactly is next in my life as far as permanent employment, but I’m hoping to land a new gig soon. I know I can make a difference somewhere!

See ya around!" - Joe Bornhorst
