Round two of the 2013-2014 Mexican Onroad Nationals was held last Sunday in Queretaro, Mexico. The beautiful track located in Juriquilla – Queretaro, gathered drivers from several cities around Mexican soil. Racers from San Luis Potosi, Cuernavaca, Saltillo, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Queretaro and more, attended the race which saw entries for 1/10 Nitro Sedan, 1/10 Electric Sedan and the M03 class.
In the Nitro 200mm class the privateer XRAY driver, Juan Herrero, started the race with his 2013 NT1 on the 7th position. Herrero got the lead of the 30 minute A-main around the 10 minute mark. He was able to pull a gap of four laps to second place Francisco Violante, just ahead of local driver Rubens Schaedler.
In the electric sedan class, Herrero got TQ on the 7th round of qualifying. His XRAY T4 faced battery problems on the start of the A-Main and was relegated from the lead by local star Joerg Schaedler. Xavier Saldaña eventually made way past the local driver to take the win, with Schaedler and Herrero completing the podium for the second round of the national championship.
This result places Herrero on top of the championship for both categories, 190mm and 200mm. The final two rounds will be held in 2014 at San Luis Potosi and Guadalajara.
