Following the introduction of the new Velox V8.2 kit the BeNeLux team took podium-places at almost each race during the Dutch 8th scale on-road championship. Last weekend the championship deciding race took place at the EVMC track of Velp.

Due to unstable weather conditions practice was difficult. Also the start of the race was still troublesome with some small rain showers. In qualifying Robbin Hertong managed to set the best result on a drying track with 14 laps (TQ). Joey Sorber showed strong performance as well and took the 2nd place in front of Jesse Keller on 3rd position. Ben Ciere and local hero Ben Jamini were also fast enough to secure themselves a starting place in the A-main making it 4 Velox V8.2 in the top8.

In the afternoon the sun came out and all finals could be raced on a dry track. The A-Mail final started without pole setter Robbin Hertong who encountered engine problems during warm-up. Joey Sorber took the lead from the start and drove away from the pack. Martin Zevenhoven surprised Jesse Keller at the start and took 2nd position early. After 5 laps Joey Sorber made a mistake and needed to do some major repairs on his car throwing him out of contention for the victory. At the same time Jesse Keller and Ben Jamini were able to overtake Martin Zevenhoven. At half way it was local driver Ben Jamini who took over the lead from Jesse but due to a small problem he needed to give up the leading position again to Jesse at 20 minutes mark. Jesse managed to keep the lead until the checkered flag to take the victory. Ben Jamini took the runner-up spot while Ben Ciere completed the podium to make it an all Shepherd podium.

1. Jesse Keller (Shepherd) 122 laps
2. Ben Jamini (Shepherd) 121 laps
3. Ben Ciere (Shepherd) 118 laps

This result was good enough to seize a full Shepherd podium as well for the Dutch Championship NK-class 8th scale On-road. In a month the 2019 winners will be officially honored during the “Evening of Champions”.
