Kyosho Factory Driver Tanner Day Sweeps The Kyosho 3 lap Challenge
The 2nd running of the Kyosho 3 Lap Challenge took place at Nor-Cal Hobbies in San Jose, CA on April 24. In a break from the traditional qualifying format using just the fastest three consecutive laps comprised the contestants' times. To add even more challenges, dirt engineer Anton Aaroe designed a track layout specifically for this event, complete with a wicked challenging large quad jump that tripped up many drivers and shone a spotlight on those that conquered it. It was an accomplishment for drivers to complete one fast lap, let alone three, making for an exciting and unpredictable race.
In modified 2wd buggy, Tanner held Tq over fellow Kyosho team mate Charlie Cavalier by 1.9 seconds. In the main event, a mistake by Tanner in the quad jump put Charlie in the lead, but only for a minute. The 17 year old regained the lead and won with Charlie 2nd, and Antonio Counsil 3rd.
In 4wd buggy, yet again Tanner would TQ over Factory Orion Driver Dominic Favorito by 3.5 seconds. In the main, Tanner led an uneventful race lapping the field. Favorito would finish second, John Ricco finished 3rd
