After witnessing a handful of life-threatening emergencies at RC tracks, such as heart attacks and allergic reactions to bee stings, I’ve decided to ask the racing community to help us put together emergency medical kits that will be available at major RC races.
Many RC tracks are located in rural areas, or buried in industrial complexes, where the response time for emergency medical services can far exceed the critical window for patients - and few facilities in our industry are equipped with the basic equipment needed to provide support until an ambulance can arrive.
Our goal is to assemble an emergency medical kit that will include items like an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen), and an extended general first aid kit, and we will also have signs made to notify attendees that these devices are available. The cost to put together each kit is about $2500; we will transport the equipment to all major races that our broadcast team attends, and if we are able to purchase additional kits to provide to other event promoters across the country.
I’d like to thank those companies who have already donated to the project:
Here is a link to the GoFundMe page created for this cause - and 100% of all proceeds will go toward equipment and supplies. For any company that donates $100 or more, the brand’s logo will be added to the notification signs.
