I have been racing some type of motorsport since I was 4 years old. Since that time I have been fortunate enough to travel all across the country to races, both big and small, backwoods and big timers.
Unfortunately, until this past weekend, I never really realized how many and how important the people behind the scenes of racetracks really are. Our local track and LiveRC test grounds, Fastlane Raceway, has been the host of multiple regional and national level carpet and onroad events in its early years. Our local offroad track guru then joined forces with them to build an indoor offroad track at the facility which also quickly became the host of several major events.
As our longtime offroad 1/8 scale track closed down this past summer, the Fastlane crew went hard at work getting set to build an offroad 1/8 track as well at the facility.
Seems pretty simple to do:
Step 1 - Find dirt
Step 2 - Make jumps
Step 3 - Go racing
After spending some time at the track I really sat back and realized just how MANY people and how MUCH work goes into each and every one of the racetracks around the world, no matter how big or small, and how thankful we as racers should be for the people who make it all possible.
Naturally we are racers, so we are born to complain, gripe, and whine, but I want to say THANK YOU to all of the dirt movers, dirt pickers, track designers, asphalt grinders, stand builders, track tampers, light renters, computer brains, ramp builders, watering pros, mower drivers, weedeater maniacs, banner hangers, fence builders, speaker wirers, counter workers, restroom builders, concession chefs, AND anyone else who goes into making R/C racing possible at racing facilities around the world.
(Fastlane Raceway transformed from a weedy asphalt parking lot into 5-star offroad racing facility)
Whether we are racing onroad, offroad, oval, carpet, rock crawling, and/or any other form of R/C there is a huge THANK YOU owed to those who make it possible!
Share below your local tracks and a shout out saying "Thank You!" for all of their hard work and dedication to R/C!
