This past week / weekend hosted two of the most prestigious events in my world, the IFMAR World Championships and the Motocross of Nations (the Olympics of motocross racing).
The IFMAR 1:10 Offroad World Championships was an absolutely phenomenal event. I had picked out a few drivers who I really expected to dominate the event, and make for a boring show. I could not have been more wrong, as each race in both the 2wd and 4wd classes was spectacular to watch.
In 2wd, I literally screamed out loud as Jared Tebo and Ryan Maifield battled into the last corner racing across the line in A2. In 4wd, I have known Steven Hartson to be blazing fast, but I had NO IDEA he was going to come out of the gate swinging to put in such incredible, smooth, and consistent performances. I want to personally congratulate both Jared Tebo and Steven Hartson as they earned their victories this past weekend against the best in the world!
In the Motocross of Nations (MXon), I was obviously cheering for Team USA. Our team consisted of Ryan Dungey, Eli Tomac, and Justin Barcia. While we had a very strong team of riders on the line, some bad luck and BIG get offs by both Eli Tomac and Justin Barcia we would end up finishing second place behind Team Belgium. While I am an American and wanted to see my country win, you cannot deny a great performance when you see one, and Belgium did just that. My hat is off to Team Belgium for an excellent performance and incredible riding by Ken de Dycker, Clement Desalle and Jeremy van Horebeek.
This was a big weekend in the offroad racing world, and it wore me out just watching it all. Congratulations to ALL of the participants, and newly crowned champions of both events!
