Have you ever had "one of those weekends"? You know where everything seems to go wrong, and finally you pop a cork? It's been a long time since I've had one of those weekends...up until this past weekend.

Saturday is club racing day at our local track. One of my favorite classes to race is Mod 4wd Buggy. I recently received my new TLR 22-4, and was anxious to build it up and hit the track for racing! I began my build of the new buggy Wednesday night. I rocketed through the instruction manual and build process. The car went together like a piece of cake! Next up, I was short electronics for the buggy, so I borrowed some from a friend just to get going. I spent almost 2 hours methodically placing matching wires neatly throughout the new car for that "factory driver" look. I glued up some brand new tires, painted me a body, and was set to hit the track...or so I thought.

When I got ready to finalize everything, and head for the track, my weekend took a turn for the worse. I learned a few things that I would like to share with you. As most of you know the TLR 22-4 is a belt driven vehicle. This means it requires belts to operate. If you leave the little belt out when building the car, it doesn't work so well. When borrowing electronics from your buddy, make sure you ask him what they are rated to handle. If you do not, you will find that after turning on the car it will only take a short amount of time for the esc to catch fire in your living room. The 2 hours you spent on wiring is not necessary, as those too will catch fire and melt to your new chassis. When gluing up your brand new 4wd tires, make sure you glue them to 4wd front wheels...not extra 2wd front wheels you have laying on your workbench.  When painting a body don't forget the window masks, or you will look like Darth Vader rolling into your local track. Last, but not least, when you drop your radio trying to set your steering subtrim, your subtrim no longer becomes an issue as your radio died for good.

Yes folks, this past weekend was just "one of those weekends," but as they say "BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!"
