It is Monday, and all I can think about is this coming weekend. This weekend is the 2013 Neo Race in Shropshire, England. The entire LiveRC broadcast crew is packing their bags to travel across the pond to bring you the live racing action. Normally for an event like this I would hurry to get the daily news and weekly columns posted so I can sit back and watch it all unfold. There is nothing more relaxing than kicking back with some friends eating popcorn, drinking ice cold Kool-Aid, and waving foam fingers with your favorite driver's name on it while watching LiveRC.
As I began to make my plans for a little LiveRC watch party, I received a phone call. It was my boss, Mr. Rohde himself. I assumed that he would be asking me something simple like posting up a late night news report, or fixing a typo I missed earlier in the day. This time, however, he meant business.
When I think of major races on LiveRC, such as the Neo Race, I think of the amazing commentators that keep it all so interesting. Charlie Suangka, Scotty Ernst, Marshall Skare, Eric Swanson, and Jimmy Babcock just to name a few. Without the talented vocals of these gentleman, we would be watching our computer screen with nothing but the sound of bumble bees as the cars pass by.
I have been a race announcer before at various events here and there, but never would I compare myself to the caliber of these guys. Never would I imagine that Brandon Rohde would put a task such as announcing a major worldwide event in my responsibility, but as I hung up the phone with him it all set in. He asked me, Mike Garrison, the news guy, the guy who writes reviews about powdered peanut butter and bouncy balls, to take the role of LiveRC announcer and commentator for the entire Neo Race from the LRC Studio in Wisconsin.
I am writing this today as my stomach turns with nausea, fear, panic, and a McDonald's breakfast burrito, in an effort to help calm my nerves, and to invite all of you to join in the LiveRC All-Access Pass broadcast of the 2013 Neo Race! Join in the discussion through the LiveRC viewer chat box, place your LRC Bucks bet each race, and WIN BIG with your AKA Fantasy League team!
I would continue talking about it, but I am just SLIGHTLY nervous, so I think I'll go throw up instead...
