RC Pro Ontario Race Report:
Last weekend was the largest outdoor nitro event in Ontario, Canada. Hosted by Average Joes RC the event brought out 200 entries in total. The event started on Friday with racers trying to get a handle on the fresh layout that was built the previous weekend. Traction was high in practice as the surface had been watered consistently all day long. Qualifications started on Saturday which entailed the best 2 of 3 rounds counting for qual points. The track surface was ran dry and started to blow out in the first qualifier. Racers struggled to find the right tire for these conditions but after the 3 rounds Mugen driver Derek Sousa would come out as TQ for both Buggy and Truck Classes while Mugen driver Jay Cristiano took the first spot on the grid in Ebuggy.
Sunday was started early as there were 25 races to go through, with the high heat and humidity it made the races seem endless. First of the finals was the Pro Truck main. Derek Sousa and Serpent team driver, Daniel Yachnin pulled away from the rest of the pack before the first pit stop. Unfortunately, Daniel had a issue that resulted in a broken truck which would allow Derek to take the win after the 30 minute race with Ron Lupel and Gareth Houben second and third respectively.

The Ebuggy final saw triple A-Mains as Mugen drivers Jay Cristiano and John Semple would battle for the win. John Semple took the first main with a 4.7 lead over second. Jay would come back in the next round taking the win which would tie up the points making the final main an exciting race. Jay got a decent lead in the final race but John Semple drove clean and consistent to reel Jay in over the 10 minutes. At the 5 minute mark John would take the lead for the overall win.

In the Buggy final Derek Sousa would again sit on pole position. The track was fully blown out with clay ruts that made the track very challenging for all the buggys. Drivers found it difficult to make clean consistent laps in the conditions. At the start of the tone the race began with a big pile up at the end of the straight. Second and third place would get shuffled back with the leader, Derek being able to get away. Dereks brother Mark also driving a Mugen would be able to move up to second and Peter Head (JQ) third after the first lap. Midway through the race Derek would flame out giving fellow Mugen driver Jay Cristiano the lead with Mark Sousa in second and John Semple (Mugen) in third. The finishing order would be, Jay, Derek and Mark after the checkered flag was waved. This would be a clean sweep for the Mugen/VP/Hardcore RC team.
