Press Release From Avid RC:
www.avidrc.com

The Avid RC AE 13mm shock set has everything you need to get your B7/B74 suspension handling like never before. The shock bodies have our proven low-friction Avant Coating which has a polished, mirror-like finish that resists wear while offering the lowest friction on the market. The exterior showcases our signature Ringer silver highlights and a laser-etched AV logo at the bottom, making them stand out. They’re compatible with AE pistons, and we've optimized the design to use 4 fewer machined spacers, cutting replacement costs in half. The set also includes (2) 13x23 and (2) 13x27.5 Avant Shock Bodies, (2) 3x23 and (2) 3x27.5 Avid Chrome Shock Shafts, (8) Avant AE Machined Shock Spacers, (8) Avid X-Rings, (1) Avid Slop Oring Grease, (4) piston washers, (4) piston screws, (4) cap orings, and (4) cartridge orings.

Features

  • Avant: Avid's new Avant Coating offers the same strength as our mil-spec type III hard anodizing but with an even smoother polished like low-friction surface.
  • Tapered Design: This shock body’s internal lower taper design was inspired by Yuichi Kanai from Kyosho, who introduced this feature during the MP7 era. At the time, many pro drivers used his shocks on their manufacturers' 1/8th scale buggies. The tapered design directs the flow of oil during compression more efficiently, compared to a flat wall, allowing for smoother shock operation. It also allows for oil to be under the piston on full stoke landings to help prevent cavitation. We have been successfully using this internal design since the release of our TLR 13mm shock bodies. Tip: If you are using internal limiters, you will need to add one extra 1mm limiter to be similar to traditional AE setup sheets.
  • HD Sealing: Are you tired of always finding a small amount of oil on your shock caps? Well we were too, especially when they are run upside down in the rear for carpet. So we beefed up the cap oring so that you will feel it engage the cap a turn or two before it is fully hand tightened giving you the leakless seal you have always dreamed of.

Installing Machined Spacers

  • Install the large spacer first > both Xrings > stepped spacer with the wide side in first > then screw on the cartridge cap.
  • Don't forget to lube your Xrings with Avid's Slop Oring Grease.

Options For

  • These bodies are an option for part numbers ASC91920, ASC91923, ASC91996 and ASC91925.

Details

  • Avant Coating for a long-lasting low friction surface, silver Ringer highlights for that sparkle, and laser etched AV logo for shameless advertising (thx).
  • The shock body has a lower taper at the piston perch for more oil-directional efficiency during compression and allows for oil to be under the piston on full stoke landings to help prevent cavitation.
  • Avid Avant Shock Bodies: (2) 13x23 and (2) 13x27.5 with (4) cap and (4) cartridge orings.
  • Avid Chrome Shock Shafts: (2) 3x23 and (2) 3x27.5 with (2) piston washers and (2) piston screws
  • Avid Avant Machined Shock Spacers: (8) low-friction self-lubricating spacers.
  • Avid X-Rings: (8) low-friction silicone X-Rings.
  • Avid Slop Oring Grease: (1) low-friction non-silicone swelling grease
  • Fits: B7, B6, B74, B64. (Check manual for the shock shaft lengths if not listed)
