It’ll put butterflies in your stomach, a lump in your throat, and a smile on your face. The 1978 Chevy Camaro by JConcepts is a great compliment to an emerging entry level class on the dirt-oval racing scene. The new body shell features a fastback roofline with built-in rear spoiler, traditional V-nose and grille with perched headlights. The rear is highlighted by large format taillight and turn signal combination lamps. In addition, the large format side-windows and wrap-around rear window scream late 70’s styling cues.
If you’re old enough, you might recall the days when the coolest guys in town cruised the streets in a shiny new 1978 Camaro. In those days the classic pony car sported a new, flowing look and set a new record for annual sales for the Chevrolet brand. Today, the Camaro is the talk of the race track with all specific wheelbase and width to fit modern 1/10th off-road chassis converted to dirt-oval bandits. The Street Stock class is fun, exciting and now, with JConcepts, even better in appearance and performance.
The 1978 Camaro debuted in May of 2019 at the inaugural JConcepts Spring Dirt Oval Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska to a thrilling reception. As with all JConcepts body shells, the set includes clear body, window mask, instruction sheet and decal sheet. Officially licensed to JConcepts by Chevrolet, the classic is also built, formed and designed in the U.S.A. with professional grade artisans. As always, each body set is backed with JConcepts customer support and racing heritage.
Specifications –
The 1978 Chevy Camaro measures a 11" wheelbase and the inside dimensions of the body are 9.50" front and 9.75" rear width. The body is built for a 2wd off-road buggy wheelbase and width and requires body mounting assistance or while using the B6, the JConcepts recommend shock towers (#2716, #2717) and Team Associated T6.1 body mounts. It's helpful to plan your build, take measurements and modify your platform to fit inside the boundaries of the body.
