Press release from Picco:
Picco Micromotori is proud to announce the introduction of their latest on-road racing engine. Seen the success of the R1 platform, the Picco brothers worked alongside with their team in order to develop the R1 base and the outcome is a big improvement in order of power band and stability. The flow of fresh charge has been optimized with new cylinder port shaping and a completely new crankshaft design. The shaft remains DLC coated, while the bore and stroke ratio have also been changed slightly compared to the R1.
The R2-3518 still features the latest crankcase design seen on the R1 that provides an improved stiffness and therefore a more stable performance at every temperature, reducing the flex. The crankshaft is treated with a Diamond-Like Coating in order to prevent oxidation and wear of the pin, and works on a rear ceramic Swiss-Made bearing. The carburetor features a double bottom-end adjustment for the finest of tunings.
