Press Release From Team Associated:

Team Associated is launching a new 1.50mm (1.5D) wire spring lineup to tune the RC8B4.1 for the ungroomed and bumpy surfaces encountered at DNC and Silver State. As part of ongoing 1:8 scale development, the team noticed that the current line of 1.6mm wire springs perform well on a higher grip fast layout, but struggled for consistent grip on ungroomed tracks.

Changing the wire diameter to 1.5mm gives the spring a different natural frequency and stress on the wire, so it can more easily compress and conform to the track surface in lower grip. Coupled with new softer rates in the front and rear, the new spring lineup is ideal for un-groomed surfaces where traction is at a premium. Both front and rear springs are shortened from the previous kit (front spring from 70mm to 68mm, and rear springs from 86mm to 83mm free length) to optimize the package with the new lower RC8B4.1 shock towers.

Features

  • 1.5D front springs in new rates ranging from 4.45 to 5.05 lb/in. with options below the kit 5.1 lb/in white spring.
  • 68mm Front springs fit 16mm shocks on RC8B4.1, RC8B4, and older models.
  • 1.5D rear springs in new rates ranging from 3.40 to 3.75 lb/in with options below the kit 3.7 lb/in. pink spring.
  • 83mm rear springs fit 16mm shocks on RC8B4.1, RC8B4, and older models.
  • Both front and rear springs tightly grouped with 0.25 coil variation for fine tuning the rate to match grip levels, making them ideal for ungroomed conditions to gain traction and bump handling.
  • All 1.5D springs are color marked on both ends to distinguish between 1.6D wire (colored on one end).
