Press Release From Team Associated:

Originally released back in 1990, the RC10 Team Car was an upgraded version of the base model RC10 Championship Edition (6011), which was also released that same year. The RC10 Team Car was the latest state-of-the-art, 2WD off-road racing buggy in the world and was the first RC10 to feature the Stealth ATC Transmission, hard anodized shocks with PTFE coating, and updated suspension geometry.
At the 1990 Off-Road ROAR Nationals, Team Associated finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd using these new parts. Cliff Lett took first place at the Nationals, which didn’t surprise anyone, but the big surprise was Brent Wallace and J.D. Beckwith, both who finished 2nd and 3rd at the very first race using the new Stealth transmission! There were many similar reports of equal success from racers all around the world after using the Stealth transmission in their older RC10’s. Later, some of these parts would eventually be included in the RC10 Team Car kit. Later, some of these parts would eventually be included in the RC10 Team Car kit.
TEAM ASSOCIATED COMPETITION
Team Associated’s RC10 has won more National and World Championships than any other RC car. Our new RC10 was engineered to give RC racers the latest in team-developed components. Without altering any of the RC10’s legendary competition features, like our custom, oil-filled shocks, Stealth ATC transmission and flex-proof, alloy monocoque, the RC10 incorporates subtle changes designed specifically for the competition driver. This eliminates the need to purchase aftermarket components of questionable reliability and availability to modify an RC10. The redesigned front suspension of the RC10 features a wider front track, made possible with the development of longer lower arms. Combined with zero-offset steering blocks, the RC10 is more stable at high speeds and offers improved turn-in for faster cornering. Also up front, new shock towers give you a wider selection of shock mounting positions to adjust spring rate for individual tracks and driving styles. In addition, adjustable turnbuckles are used throughout to make suspension changes easier and more precise. The rear suspension mounts also allow you to setup rear toe-in at 0 or 3 degrees. And to get every last bit of power to the wheels, the RC10 uses hardened universal drive shafts. Included in the RC10 kit is a low-profile clear polycarbonate Viper body and wing kit.
RC10 TECHNOLOGY
Thanks to the amazing versatility of the RC10, and the wealth of aftermarket components available for it, yours can be built-up to compete in a variety of different categories. In addition to World and National titles in 2WD Off Road, the RC10 has won National Championships in the Sprint Car and Dirt Oval classes. RC10’s are also highly competitive in Truck and Gearbox On Road racing. You can be sure that Team Associated will continue to refine and improve the RC10 in actual competition development. That’s how we provide you with the latest in RC race car technology. For that reason, we reserve the right to substitute new and improved components into our RC10 kits as soon as they are fully developed. Every attempt is made to ensure that new components can be easily retrofitted to your RC10 to keep you running up front.
Team Associated has won a combined Thirty-Three IFMAR World Championships in 1:8, 1:10, and 1:12 scale competition.
Build The Most Successful RC Car Ever
THE FRONT SUSPENSION
Many of the RC10’s racing refinements can be found up front. A wider, more aggressive stance is made possible with longer front suspension arms. The wider track, combined with zero offset steering blocks give the RC10 more high speed stability and better tracking. Other advantages are quicker steering response and faster turn-in to cut tighter lines through sharp corners. Because no two drivers or tracks are alike, the RC10 front suspension uses front shock towers with additional mounting points for extended travel and progressive spring rate adjustment, quick release spring retainers and turnbuckles to make dialing-in the right settings a simple and rapid process.
REAR SUSPENSION AND GEARBOX
For that extra added stability under power, the RC10 incorporates adjustable rear toe-in. Using rugged suspension mount blocks, you can select 0 or 3.0 degree toe-in. We’ve also included Team Associated’s Stealth ATC Transmission. This low-inertia 3-gear transmission features 48 pitch gears with a 2.25 final drive ratio, steel ball bearings, quick-change spur gear, long-life clutch friction plate, large area/high torque clutch plates, and high torque ball differential with steel balls.
THE MONOCOQUE
The nearly indestructible monocoque of the RC10 has proven to be the most durable and versatile chassis for a radio controlled car. Incredibly strong and impervious to flexing, the RC10 monocoque is deep drawn from lightweight, T6 aircraft alloy, then heat-treated for additional strength. The smooth bottom of the monocoque glides easily over rough terrain, the high sides keep out debris and strengthen the chassis.
THE WHEELS AND TIRES
A one-piece wheel design has been included with the RC10. These racing wheels are lighter than the three-piece design, are sized to fit low profile tires, and are precision molded in virgin nylon for optimum strength and concentricity. Team Associated ribbed front tires and medium compound, spiked rears keep the RC10 hooked upon most off-road racing surfaces. Team Associated tires are molded from special long wear, high traction formulas.
