CML Race Report:
Olly Jefferies’ good winter form continues with another dominating performance at EWS
Round three of this seasons very successful Essex Winter Series saw a number of top UK drivers head to the Southend venue for some pre BRCA Winter National practice, amount them team Associated drivers Olly Jefferies and Alan Bickerstaff.
Olly put in another dominating performance taking TQ in all five rounds of qualifying and in doing so putting his Associated TC6.1 on pole for the A final ahead of Tamiya’s Elliott Harper, Alan Bickerstaff would line up seventh for the A final ahead of the Schumacher of Chris Grainger.
From the start of the A final Olly was able to build up a lead while behind Elliott scrapped with Tony Broad, Olly went on to take what looked like a comfortable win, behind Olly Alan was held up in a train of cars and was unable to improve on his A final starting position, overall Alan was pleased with the performance of his car and delighted to get some pre national track time
Olly said “I was really pleased with how my TC6.1 coped with what was a tricky layout, I did not change a lot over the weekend, just some small tweaks here and there and experimenting with some different additives, the car was consistent which allowed me to push when I needed too, overall both Alan and myself came away with some good data with regards to the control tyres which is the same tyre for the winter national, still some more work to do but overall very happy with where we are currently”
The BRCA Winter National takes place next February and both Olly and Alan plan to enter another round of the EWS as they prepare for the first big touring car national of 2013
