CML Race Report:
Rounds 7 & 8 of the Chippenham Winter Indoor Championship took place last weekend. Going into the event, Olly Jefferies had a clean sweep of maximum scores and TQ’s, and one more strong result would see him wrap up the 13.5 boosted class.
The competition for Olly would come this time from X-Ray driver Phil Chambers and young X-Ray chargers Kieran Clift and Reece Hodges. On form Olly put his TC6.1 on pole for the A final following three straight TQ runs. Phil would line up second but making it two Associated/CML drivers in the top three was Kyle Gardner, a good result here for Kyle would help his championship campaign no end.
Once again Olly stamped his authority on the meeting, putting in two faultless finals to take rounds seven and eight of the series and in doing so claim the title with two meetings in hand, winning the class on a perfect score.
For Kyle it was fourth place, the result keeping him in the hunt for the runners up spot in the 13.5 class.
This weekend Olly takes on a new challenge, GT10 racing, using his RC10R5.1 Olly will be at the Autosport show, Olly has had limited running with the car but is looking forward to a slightly different challenge.
"I have run the RC10R5.1 a couple of times and it feels very different to what I am used too, I ran at Chippenham during the break between qualifying and finals and I quickly realised I need to get the car to work more in tune with my driving style, but in saying that I am looking forward to racing something different", he said.
Olly will possibly contest the next CWIC round as he continues to prepare for the BRCA winter touring car national and support Kyle in his efforts to secure a top three spot in the championship .
