Panak and Abrahamek Win the 2019 Infinity World Challenge

Race Report by Branislav Panak Jr

Last weekend the Infinity World Challenge Race was held at Morac Ring. We arrived to the track on Friday to test the car, engine and tyres on non-sugared track. The car felt little on the understeering side, so we rebuild the suspensions and the car improved a lot. In the evening a snapped rear CVD drive shaft became our problem, since the we wanted to set the car up and wanted to be safe so we decided not to put the CVDs back in the car. As mentioned already we tested our OS engine for the rest of the Friday. On Saturday we finally got to test the Matrix tyres. The feeling of the Matrix tyres was really good as I improved by 0.2 seconds on my best lap from Friday, so we decided to run with them on Sunday. On the Sunday morning we lowered the body in the front for more steering in to the corner. In Q1 I came 2nd with about 8 seconds behind Nejc Mihelic. In Q2 it was Tomas Liptak by about 0.5 seconds taking that round with me leading by 0.01 until the last lap as I made mistake after the straight. I also improved my personal best to 16.381. Overall TQ went to Nejc Mihelic.

In the first of the 2 finals it was a clean run for Nejc Mihelic as he managed to run away from me and Tomas while we battled for 2nd position. The battle was lost for me as I ran out of fuel on lap 52 and then again on the last lap. It was an easy win for Nejc with finish 1 lap ahead of Tomas and 2 laps in front of me .

In the 2nd final I was sitting in 3rd chasing Tomas, but after the pitstops at lap 17 I overtook him thanks to a faster pit stop. So, I was in 2nd with Tomas sitting about 1.5 seconds behind me and Nejc leading in front. After a few minutes, Nejc got a problem with his engine which allowed me to get in to the lead and Tomas in 2nd. But then Tomas caught up and as we were both entering the pitlane within 0.5 of each other there was a slow car entering the pit lane so I braked to slow down, Tomas was not able to brake as quick so he ran into the back of me. I dropped into the 2nd position since my engine flamed out. My dad rushed to get my car and quickly get it started, Tomas has managed to pull a half lap gap. A few laps later Tomas crashed at the end of the straight which allowed me to catch up and lap him. After that I just had to stay focused, manage tyres and cruise to the end without a mistake.
