Panther Race Report:

Held at Zwartkops Raceway, Rd 1 of the South African Nationals would be plagued with the occasional thunderstorms messing with the consistency of the track. It ranged from minimum traction to maximum traction. Luckily during the finals the track kept on improving through the day and provided excellent traction by late afternoon. Track was described as semi blue groove with thin layer of dust. Blowers were used to clean track after every three runs.

2wd Modified Qualifiers:
Eben Coetzee’s Durango DEX210 was fitted with Panther Switch 2.0 (soft) rears and Lynx fronts during Qualifying . Eben had very good runs in all 3 qualifiers missing TQ by 2 seconds. He ended up 2nd on grid which for us great achievement considering this was his first year in 2wd modified and keeping in mind that all the front runners in South Africa were present on the grid.

2wd Finals Modified Finals:
In the finals Eben Coetzee used Panther Switch 2.0 (soft) rears and Lynx fronts except for first race where track was damp and Puma (soft) rears were used.

Eben took two 2nd’s in tightly contested races against Jaco van Eden(also driving a Durango DEX210) and who is the defending SA Champ. In both races Jaco would take first with Eben just behind him. In the last race Eben was caught up in back at the start of the race but managed to fight back to 3rd. Eben would take 2nd overall for the first round of 2wd mod National Championships.

4wd Modified Qualifiers:
Eben Coetzee’s Durango DEX410 was fitted with Panther Raptors (soft) on all 4 corners. Eben would TQ Q1. Eben would take 2n in Q2 and Q3. Eben’s Q1 time would hold though giving him the overall TQ. Qualifying was tight with 3 full heats of 4wd buggies.

4wd Modified Finals:
Eben would line up in front of A1 and would make a few costly mistakes and would take 3rd. In A2 Eben got away cleanly and won the race comfortably. Even would have to win in the A3 to take overall victory. The youngster drove like a veteran and won the the race with a margin for 12 seconds. Eben Coetzee would win Rd1 of 4wd mod National Championships Series.

2wd Stock Qualifiers:
Abri Kohn drove a 2wd TQ midmount car fitted with Panther Switch 2.0 (soft) rears and Lynx fronts. With a DNF in Q1, a 2nd in Q2 , and a 2nd in Q3 Abri would be stitting 3rd on the grid for the A-mains finals. This race was one of the closest of the entire weekend with drivers being so close in qualifying.

2wd Stock Finals:
For the finals Abri Kohn used Panther Switch 2.0 (soft) rears and Lynx fronts. Abri would take a 2nd in A1, 2nd in the A2 and 4th in A3. Abri would take 3rd overall which is an excellent result for Abri’s first Nationals after being absent for almost 4 years.

ST Stock Qualifiers:
Abri drove a TQ SX10T Stadium truck fitted with Panther Switch 2.0 (soft) rears and V-Rib fronts. Abri drove excellent and would line up 2nd for the A-Mains.

ST Stock Finals:
Lining up for the finals Abri Kohn used Panther Switch 2.0 (soft) rears and V-Rib fronts. In A1 Abri would take 2nd and secured the overall win taking A2 and A3 victories. It was exciting racing but a cool head and consisting driving prevailed resulting in an overall win.
