R3 and R4 of the GT12 BRCA National Championship was held last weekend at the impressive venue and hosted by the Chippenham Model Car Club in Wilshire. Racers were welcomed with an incredibly bright, large and well-presented track and spacious pit area, setting the stage for great event. With this year’s format being 2 rounds of the series per weekend, one on Saturday and one on Sunday there was a lot to play for!

Schumacher’s drivers were out in force and after an incredibly close qualifying; it was championship leader, Schumacher’s Andy Murray that would take Pole position followed by new 1/12th European Champion Ollie Payne.  In total 7 Schumacher ATOM CC’s could line up on the A final Grid.

Well done Matthew Gammons on celebrating his first A final on only his 3rd attempt!

The A final went down to the wire with a close run battle between Andy and Ollie.  A small mistake from Andy allowed Ollie to take the R3 win, from Andy and his teammate Ben Vincent completing the podium.

Sunday would see the same layout but run in reverse.  This time it was a day long battle for TQ between 5 drivers, Ben, Andy, Ollie, Adam.  Only 3 seconds would separate the 4 of them, but once again, Andy came out on top for his 4th straight pole position.  Schumacher’s Adam Catchpole would line up alongside him this time in second place.

In the A final, Andy would open out a 1 second gap in the opening few laps and maintain this to control the race out front.  Meanwhile, a super close race long battle commenced where Ollie managed to slip by Adam in the final laps for second leaving Adam to complete the podium, crossing the line only 0.1 second behind, capping a fantastic race between the two of them.

As per Saturday’s final, Sunday’s race showed 7 Schumacher’s.  One of which being another first time A finalist, Arran Turner!  Well done Arran.

With wins in 3 out of the first 4 rounds and Pole at all 4 rounds, Andy Murray and his Schumacher ATOM CC has already wrapped up his first BRCA National Championship, with 2 rounds to spare!

Congratulations to Andy on a fantastic performance and to the entire team for the great success!
