Race Report by Zac Gastelum

This past weekend I attend the Rumble in the Rockies. It was a very long week with me building and maintaining the track and a lot of up and downs but great ups that overcame those downs.

My week of racing started Friday with putting in a fresh new layout for the event. It was a long night but got the track done. Race on the following day and cars were awesome.

The following week would a bunch of of practice days with me maintaining the track through out. Cars during this time were perfect. Only changing things due to track conditions.

Friday night started qualifying. I was super confident going in. I would score a TQ in truck and a pair of seconds for 2WD and 4WD. Saturday was the following next three rounds. I would sweep qualifying in truck with TQing all four rounds. 2WD I would score two fives and a TQin round four. So I would get to start second on the grid for the main.

The next day would be main day. Truck was an extended main. I would take the win lead tone to tone and sweep the Mod truck class.

The 2WD mains started off slow with me finishing 4th in A1. A2 was an improvement with me taking a second and having a chance for the second step on the podium since Dustin Evans took A1 and A2. A3 was the time to get it done I would go onto win 2WD A3 and finish second overall.

All in all, The race was awesome, track was difficult and fast, and racing was the closest I have ever seen at this race. It was an awesome weekend with a little bitterness weekend for me but I will learn from my mistakes and move forward.

I also wasn’t the only Xray driver and cars to make an a main. Jacob Lieder and Kyle Schmer would make the 13.5 4WD main. With privateer Cole Lewton making it also. All driving XB4s. Kyle would finish 5th, Jacob 6th, and Cole 7th. Proud of these guys as they all worked hard and followed my advice to improve through tour the weekend.
