Racing video from 1993 featuring a very young Ryan Maifield

I had the chance to interview Perry Maifield, Ryan's father, during the final round of qualifying on Saturday at the Cactus Classic (click here if you missed it - it was AWESOME), and he mentioned being shown a video of Ryan racing back in the early 90s that brought back wonderful memories of his son.

As it turns out, the young racer standing next to Ryan in the video was Mario Vasquez, a fellow Arizona native who also avidly races RC cars - and he posted the video to YouTube back in 2012. Mario sent me the link to the video on Facebook over the weekend and we played it on the broadcast, but here it is so you can watch it. The race was held at the same track as last year's Cactus Classic (EDIT: the track is actually the original SRS, about five miles from last year's track), and you just have to check out the cars and track that were state-of-the-art over twenty years ago!
