Leadfinger Racing has made quite a push in 2015, releasing new Lexan lids for 1/8-scale buggies from Mugen, TLR, and HB. They also released their popular Assassin design for Tekno RC’s EB48 electric buggy earlier this year, and this weekend marks the first public appearance of a similar body for the nitro version - the NB48. The release coincides with another big announcement for the Florida-based accessory brand: the signing of Joe Bornhorst.
“At the Psycho Nitro Blast, they approached me and said they were coming out with a body for the NB48 - and asked if they could use my paint job for their press photos,” said Bornhorst, who ran the production-ready shell for just one day before coming to Silver Dollar RC Raceway. “The body feels really consistent on the track, especially on a layout like this with such a mix of high- and low-speed sections.”
Like other LFR Assassin bodies, the new NB48 shell features a steeply raked cab section that sits in front of the engine head, with an angled scoop providing a bit of addition downforce in the rear.
Bornhorst’s Tekno RC teammate Ryan Lutz also received one of the newly-formed NB48 Assassin bodies in time to have it painted for the race, showing up to Silver Dollar RC Raceway with it decked out in his signature blue and pink. As you can see in this photo, the side pod along the right side of the buggy has a raised hump to provide clearance for the throttle linkage.
To commemorate the occasion, Leadfinger Racing signed on to sponsor the High Definition video feed for our broadcast of this weekend’s ROAR Fuel Off-Road Nationals. We thank LFR for their support, and look forward to seeing how the new Tekno RC body performs in such a high-profile debut!
