Press release from JQ Products:
Robert Gustafsson TQs and wins EFRA European 40+ Championship!
The past weekend we flew out to participate in the 3rd annual 40+ European championship. We landed in Vienna late wednesday so we could have 1 day off before the race began to also get some rest and also wait the whole Swedish team to arrive.
The WMW club track in Fehring, Austria.
Friday morning the track had been brutalized by the rain, and first round of practice was cancelled. But 2nd round was run according to time schedule and we were on, by the end of the day I manage to be the fastest in timed practice.
First round of the quails, I manage a 2nd spot and Costas Agrafiotis from Greece was tq, this pissed me off a bit and put my focus for next 2 rounds which i TQed. So the 4th round was gonna be decided who’s tq, Costas or me. He had to win the round and I should be lower than 2nd for him to get the tq, and if I was first or 2nd I would definitely be tq since 4th round should be a tiebreaker from points. Costas drove awesome and put in an excellent time which I didn’t beat, but I managed to come in 2nd and got the TQ position!!
Robert enjoying a cold one, celebrating his overall TQ.
In the main I started in 1st position, and I knew from the semifinal there were some fast drivers who wanted to beat me and had faster lap times in the semi, but since the heavy rain at noon before the semi made my engine slightly rich and wasn’t really fully performing in the semi, this was now corrected in the main and I knew I was going to be able to go faster than the semi.

In the Final I managed to get a clean start, but crashed on the 2nd lap, and let 2 cars by, but a few laps later I got the lead again and inched away slowly from the field and after the shortened 30 minute main I passed the finish line as the 40+ Senior Efra European Champion 2014, and the feeling was awesome and I’m so happy we raced this final instead of canceling as was on the board for some time when the rain came in, if cancelled I would have won, but I wanted to race for it. So the organizer did an awesome job to get the track in shape after the showers. And the event was really a memorable one.
