The ROVE RHS Innovators of Reese, Michigan recently traveled to Roseville, Michigan to compete in the Square One Education Network's Underwater Innovative Vehicle Design Challenge.
Throughout the day, this hardworking team competed in several infrastructure-based tasks. They were also judged in several categories where they placed second in presentation and engineering and craftsmanship, as well as first in design innovation. These award-winning innovations included LED lights to improve visibility, an inexpensive car backup camera to give drivers wider visibility, and custom aluminum prop adapters designed by the students and fabricated with the help of Kremin, Inc., a manufacturing company based in Frankenmuth.
Now, the Innovators are looking forward to their next challenge. In order to compete in the Square One Innovative Vehicle Design Challenge at M-City on the University of Michigan campus on May 19, the group is working to test and improve a stock 1/10 Traxxas Slash. With innovations including Arduino-based sensors, custom bodies, and other performance modifications, they will be well prepared to tackle challenges of speed and agility.
The RHS Innovators have enjoyed solving these problems as a team as they work towards this exciting opportunity. You can find the RHS Innovators on social media @rhsinnovators on Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube, @reeserove on Facebook, or email them at rhsinnovators@gmail.com.
