Race Report by Team Associated:
The fifth and final round of the 2013 JConcepts Indoor National Series was hosted by the Hobbytown Hobbyplex in Omaha, Nebraska from December 14-15. Racers gathered from across the Midwest with Jason Ruona from JConcepts travelling from Florida, Steven Hartson and Brent Thielke coming from California, and Ryan Maifield attending from Arizona. With over 300 entries and 33 heats, the race days were sure to be long and competitive.
In 2WD Modified, the most popular class at the event, Team Associated/Reedy's Ryan Maifield took the win in A1 and A2 for the overall win with his B4.2 Factory Team with Centro conversion. However, stealing the spotlight was teammate Spencer Rivkin, who won A3 and had a second and third place to go along with the win to take second overall. Steven Hartson rounded out the podium sweep for Team Associated.
4WD Modified was a similar story with Ryan Maifield's B44.2 Factory Team starting on pole and taking the win in A1 and A2, but again an up-and-coming teammate made some noise. Nick Gibson took the win in Maifield's absence of A3 to secure a second place overall.
2WD Short Course Modified was again the Ryan Maifield show where he started first with his Reedy-powered SC10.2 Factory Team and took the win in A1 and A2 to take his third title of the weekend.
With an impressive 2WD 17.5 Buggy resume that began with a victory at the Cactus Classic, continued with a ROAR National Title, and culminated at the JConcepts Indoor National Series, Spencer Rivkin and his Reedy-powered B4.2 Factory Team are clearly the fastest stock racing package in the year. Taking the TQ and winning A1 and A2, Rivkin capped off a great year and possibly stock racing career. Keep an eye out for this up-and-coming Team Associated talent for years to come.
Thank you to the host facility, Hobbytown Hobbyplex, and to JConcepts for a great series finals, and congratulations to all the winners. See ya next year!
