Unfortunate news from California has been announced today as SCVRC is closing their doors. Eric Schlaifer of SCVRC stated the following earlier this morning on social media:
"I would like to personally thank all of the racers and practice pros that have supported Scvrc over the last 5 years. Many of us have made countless memories on the track and in the pits that will last a lifetime. During the last 5 years, we have seen huge advancements in technology and capabilities in every aspect of our hobby. We pushed the envelope bringing carpet off road racing to the LA area, and have seen so many fast racers grow.
It takes an overwhelming amount of money and time to sustain an indoor facility in Los Angeles. Operating costs have continued to climb every year while turnouts have declined and you end up with a facility that cannot sustain itself. Over the last 6 months I’ve done everything in my power to increase turnouts and lower operating costs to keep SCVRC alive. However, the facility has not covered its operating costs in months, leaving me no choice but to close the doors.
If there is someone with a dream who feels they could turn this track around, please reach out to me. I hate the idea that SoCal is losing another place to race. Everything is for sale while we work on cleaning out the building. If there are any tracks looking for features reach out to me. We also have a wonderful 1 1/8” subfloor that would be an asset to any carpet track."
