Editor's note: This article originally stated that the event would be moved to a different location, which is false. It has been updated to fix that information, and I apologize for the error.

Though located in Dale, TX — roughly 200 miles from the Gulf Coast — the facility at N-Control RC and its plans to host this weekend's ROAR Electric On-Road Nationals fell victim to Tropical Storm Harvey, which wreaked havoc on Houston and the surrounding area over the weekend.

Track owner Paul Gaertner posted on RCTech early this morning that he has been unable to visit the track due to low water crossings in the area, but that the covered pit building and frame have been destroyed. With more rain expected over the next several days ROAR announced yesterday that the event has been postponed until another location and date can be determined. Here's the official press release (via www.roarracing.com):

"As you may know, the area where the Electric On-Road Paved Nationals was being held this coming week has been impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The track facilities suffered damage from the storm and additionally, Dale, Texas, is expecting a significant amount of rain over the next few days. We are saddened to announce that we will have to postpone the event. We will announce the new date for the National as soon as possible. In the meantime, please join us in sending our thoughts and prayers to the staff and crew of N-Control and all those impacted by this devastating storm."

After this article was posted, I was alerted to comments on the ROAR Facebook page after the announcement, where the N-Control RC account had commented that the race would be rescheduled at its location for a later date — contradicting our earlier report. The comment said, "We are working with ROAR to reschedule the Nationals! Dates coming soon!"

More information will be shared as it becomes available.
