Talk-It-Up Tuesday with rising star David Jenson

 

 

Have you ever been sitting at little league baseball game for your younger brother, or maybe a junior high basketball tournament for your daughter, and you see that one player that makes you think, "Wow...that kid is gonna be good." In R/C racing there seem to be more and more moments like that as we travel the world broadcasting races, as the next generation of professional racers are growing up and going fast. One of the up and coming fast kids on the block is none other than Team Losi Racing's short course specialist, David Jenson!

 

We've sat down with this young up-and-comer for this edition of "Talk-It-Up Tuesday!"
 

 
 

LiveRC: Welcome David to "Talk-It-Up Tuesday!" Let's start off by asking the question everyone wants to know, exactly how old are you?

David: 13

LiveRC: When and how did you get started in R/C car racing?

David: I was about 9 years old when my friends mom discovered West Coast Raceway. We went there to watch and the following week I did my first club race and took 3rd in the beginner class with two wheel drive Traxxas and have been hooked ever since.
 
LiveRC: What do you enjoy most...school or R/C cars?

David: R/C Cars

LiveRC: Without a doubt you have a promising future as a racer, what are some of your major accomplishments so far?

David: I placed 5th in the Scotty Ernst Shortcourse Showdown race in 2011that is when I received my first sponsorship offer, 8th place in Pro 4 at the 2013 Cactus Classic race, 1st in sportsman electric 8 scale and 2nd in Pro 4 at the 2013 Silver State Race, 3rd in Pro 4 at the 2013 Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout and 1st in Pro 4 at 2013 Reedy Truck Race of Champions at Hot Rod Hobbies.
 
LiveRC: You are currently a Team Losi Racing driver, what is your favorite TLR vehicle and why?

David: The TEN-SCTE 2.0 4wd Short Course because of its power and speed.

LiveRC: Would you say that 4wd short course is your specialty?

David: Yes.

LiveRC: What did it feel like to beat all of the grown-ups by over a lap at the Reedy Truck Race of Champions?

David: I was very excited and proud that I did as well as I did!
 
 
LiveRC: Do you have a girlfriend at school? If so, does she like R/C cars?

David: No!

LiveRC: Who of all the pro drivers in the world is the one you look up to the most?

David: Jared Tebo.

LiveRC: What do you want to be when you grow up?

David: Computer Programmer and a professional R/C driver.
 
 
LiveRC: Do you ever let Mom or Dad drive your cars? If so, do you have to show them how to go fast?

David: Not really, because they are not very good at it.

LiveRC: Favorite thing about R/C cars?

David: Being in control of the car and meeting and racing with great people.

LiveRC: Favorite track? Why?

David: My favorite outdoor track is Hot Rod Hobbies and for indoors OCRC because they both have outstanding traction and amazing track layouts! 
 
 
LiveRC: One place you wish you could race in 2014?

David: The Worlds!

LiveRC: What is the next race we can plan to see you at?

David: The JBRL finals at Hot Rod Hobbies.
