As we brought you the breaking news first, we are here to announce officially that Taylor James HAS signed with SWorkz for the upcoming season! Leaving behind his Team Durango ride, James will now drive the all-new SWorkz buggy that is distributed in the USA by Ascendancy RC.

James has been a multi-time national champion and world championship contender, with an education background in engineering. The new addition to the team will bring not only talent but also highly skilled R&D to the growing SWorkz.

OFFICIAL SWORKZ/ASCENDANCY RC PRESS RELEASE:
It is with great pleasure that SWorkz and Ascendancy Racing announce the signing of Pro Driver Taylor James! Many of you may know that Taylor has not been racing as often for he has persued a higher education. Taylor wrapped up his degree in Engineering this year and plans to make racing a priority once again! Taylor has a great resume and tons of talent! His past results include 2007 ROAR National Champion, Multiple RC Pro National and Regional Titles, podium finishes in truck and buggy at the 2006 Silverstate Nitro Challenge, at the 2006 ROAR Truck Nationals and a podium finish at the 2006 ROAR Buggy Nationals. Furthermore, Taylor was TQ at the first pre-worlds race for the 2008 World Championships. Also, he won the second pre-worlds race and finished 6th in the 2008 IFMAR Off-road World Championships.

We look forward to working with Taylor and seeing his results throughout 2012.

We were able to catch up with SWorkz / Ascendancy RC's Jason Andersen for a LiveRC Exclusive Interview!

LRC: How did SWorkz and Taylor get linked up?

JASON: I have known Taylor for about 10 years. We raced together and traded podium positions many times. At one point were both team members with Mugen. So we shared a bit at that time about the MST1 Stadium Truck and MBX4 Buggy. Nathan and I have always admired Taylor for his work ethic and pursuing his education just goes to show he is the exact type of person we want on the team! I approached Taylor about it some time ago but his plate was pretty full. But the process got started again just a few weeks ago. I worked closely with Taylor and SWorkz factory to ensure the best results. Like Ascendancy Racing, SWorkz owners and management are excited about the possibilities Taylor brings to the table.

LRC: When will he be running the new car?

JASON: His first event has not been scheduled 100% but he already has a shipment of product on the way. There has been some conversation about the Gas Champs and Sidewinder but nothing has been set in stone.

LRC: Is he going to be a driver only, or also be part of the R&D?

JASON: Taylor is gainfully employed and I am sure he is very busy. So at this time our goal for him is to have fun driving the SWorkz Buggy. With that said, the factory is more than happy to work with any inputs Taylor may have.

LRC: Will this bring more big names to SWorkz in the future?

JASON: SWorkz is still a new name to the market. We have noticed there is a lot of apprehension about new platforms at this time. So for the North American market Taylor will be our #1 driver for a period to come. As always we strive to bring only the best product at the best price to market. Like the Ascendancy Effortless clutch the SWorkz brand is second to none. Not only can the quality be seen in the pictures but on the track as well.

LRC: Are their plans for SWorkz to design a truggy (Taylor's "specialty")?

JASON: As everyone knows the only real market for Truggy is in North America. For example in Europe there is no big Truggy events. The first thing coming for sure is the E-Buggy which I am told will be available in November. I have also spoken to the Factory about a Truggy and it is definitely a possibility next year, maybe in spring. I will try to find out more and as soon as I do I will be glad to share it with everyone.
