In almost any vehicle, the horsepower and abuse that mod class racing puts on a transmission is unreal. The TLR 22 series vehicles comes stock with a plastic idler gear. While this gear works just fine, like any plastic gear, it is eventually going to wear out through all of the abuse. TLR has announced their new aluminum idler gear today which is a direct replacement for the stock plastic gear.
The aluminum idler gear looks cool (although isn't visible once the transmission is assembled) and provides substantial improvement in the durability department, especially in the high-powered mod classes.
The new idler gear is set to be released next month.
