This weekend is host to the final round of the KOKC Dirt Oval Championship, which will be held Saturday, September 30th at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, Missouri.
For the KOKC crowd and midwest dirt oval racers, this is already a special event as it finishes out the racing series for the year, however, this year's finals have received a bit more excitement.
Among R/C racers in the midwest, more and more off-road racers are trying their hand at, and enjoying, some dirt oval racing to accompany their off-road racing fun. A number of off-road drivers are planned to be in attendance, but perhaps the most talked about is multi-time IFMAR Off-road World Champion Jared Tebo.
Plan B Racing recently put together a Kyosho RB6 based version of their popular sprint car, in which Tebo has been working to get the hang of driving at a few local club races and practice days. This weekend's dirt oval debut for the champ does not mean he is leaving off-road for oval, but rather taking advantage of a fun weekend opportunity to try something new in R/C that he has yet to do in his career.
The excitement is building, and more and more racers are jumping on board for what could very well be a record setting weekend for the KOKC Championship.
