Our good friends at Tekno R/C have shared a little race report with us from the TrackStar Grand Prix:

"It was all Tekno RC in the 4×4 SCT class at the TrackStar Grand Prix in San Diego. TQ was set by Tekno driver Matt Wolter and the win was captured by new Tekno driver Josh Bertrand. Daniel Lewis would round out the podium. The dominating win begs the question, “what’s under the hood?”

This got us wondering and investigating...it seems to be official, Tekno is working hard on a brand-new shortcourse truck of their own! They have worked to revolutionize the 1:8 e-buggy scene, and now they are doing the same for 4wd shortcourse!

This statement was made on the popular R/C forum RCTech.net by a Tekno crew member:

"The SCT410 will share about 75-80% of the parts from the EB48 (diffs too). That means there are already spares on the market and there are already a load of options available before it gets released.

People have been clamoring for an SCT with true 1/8th scale roots and we have answered the call. But we didn't phone it in. There are a lot of newly designed parts on the car to replace some of the heavier 1/8th scale parts and keep the weight down.

In full trim (all bumpers, side guards, with a big 6400mah 2s battery) the truck is ~6.7lbs. With optional parts and a shorty pack, it's a couple ounces over the minimum at around ~5.7lb with room to possibly go even lower. We'll have a very simple how-to video explaining how we got the weight so low.

For indoor use we've found lighter is better. For outdoor tracks that are rougher, the truck feels better when it's a little heavier. The good part is that you can tailor it to just about any situation.

As far as durability, normally we're pretty modest, but we think it's the most durable truck on the market - hands down. Handling is consistent and can be tuned to suit different driving styles. Hard anodized 16mm shocks anyone?"

Stay tuned for more details as they arrive!
