On Sunday the 25th of August, the 2019 Mini Nationals were hosted by TFTR, Melbourne, Australia. Overnight rain ensured a delayed start after numerous drying techniques.
4 classes were available. Mini Fwd, Mini 4wd, 1/12 13.5 GT and Tamiya Truck. Mini Fwd was the largest class with 39 entries and many talented drivers in all classes. Darkness and possible rain saw the support classes being dropped to 2 Amain and Truck a single 12 minute mega main.

A can do attitude was adopted with shady sections of the track having only the racing line dried to start qualifications It was established off road champion and all rounder, Cameron Zammit that would take out the first of three qualifying rounds. Race director, Jason Milbourne wasn't hampered by his responsibilities at the event and claimed the next qualifier with Zammit 2nd. These results were repeated in the deciding qualifier handing the overall TQ to Milbourne.
Zammit would briefly lead the first final until Milbourne would regain it until the end and 2 seconds clear of a hard charging Andy Cooke and Tim Boundy in third. Milbourne would claim the second final and overall title but not before Cooke would eventually battle from his 4th row in the grid to only .3 of a second from forcing an A3 decider. However Milbourne had sealed the title which left Zammit with a clear track. A mistake on the inside sweeper gave Boundy the lead, where he would remain until Cooke would display more class driving and take the lead with 2 laps of the final tone with Boundy less than a second in arrears. "Sensational Steve" Wyatt would finish a lap behind in 3rd place.

4WD mini
Milbourne improved on his Mini success with his planted Race-Opt/Xray 4wd. Winning the first qualifier 2 laps clear of Tony Parreiro(Race-opt/Xray) Q2 was another clear win and overall TQ to Milbourne, 1 lap ahead of Tim Keiller (3racing-M4). The 3rd and final qualify would be another tone to tone win for Milbourne who displayed pace and consistency. Parreiro would claim 2nd for the heat and overall grid position. Milbourne checked out in A1 leaving Tony and Tim to briefly dice it out for 2nd. Milbourne won by 10 seconds and 1 lap ahead of Tony in 2nd and Tim 3rd. A2 and the overall title was another dominating drive by Milbourne with all A1 top 3 positions being repeated.

Brian Stewart-Xray claimed convincing wins of the first two qualifiers and overall TQ against established RC champions in Paul Sims Bezerk-CRC and Andy Cooke-Xray. Stewart chose a tyre strategy and was unable to repeat his previous pace against an improving Sims. A1 was a tone to tone victory with Stewart checking out after some initial pressure from Sims. 3rd place would see Tim Boundy, Cooke and Chris Bismire taking turns in the position. The latter would eventually claim it after the tone and almost a full lap behind Stewart. After a poor start from Sims, it was Cooke who attempted to chase Stewart. Who maintained then improved his lead to claim overall victory by almost 6.5 seconds over Cooke and a rapidly closing Sims.

This simple and no frills class had the most entries of all the non mini classes. Brian Stewart convincingly claimed TQ ahead of Aaron De-fina. A single all or nothing 12 minute final was adopted. It was De-Fina with wisely selected gearing who would claim the win after some very close racing between the two big rigs. Matthew Johnson-Begg would claim the 3rd step.
