There are so many exciting things to announce where do we begin.
Well for starters we're expanding the series to 5 new, to the series, tracks. For those of you keeping score at home, yes that's a total of 9 races in the series this season. We received an overwelming amount of requests to add carpet tracks to the series and since we're a race series by racer, for racers, we delivered.
We'll be racing three mini-series with each containing 3 tracks this season. The first mini-series will consist of our carpet tracks. We'd like to welcome DRP Raceway, Trains & Lanes Indoor, and Richfield Raceway to the series. The second mini-series will consist of our indoor tracks. We'd like to thank T.A.P. Raceway, The Track in Gaithersburg, and Adrenaline Raceway for joining us once again. Last but not least we have our outdoor mini-series which will consist of Pit Stop Hobbies, G's RC Raceway, and Trains & Lanes outdoor.
This season we will be adding a special incentive for our Dog Days hosting tracks to encourage their local racers to follow the series with a bonus Pizza Race! How this works is when you register there will be a checkbox list across the top of your registration form. You check off one, and only one, track signifying which is your home/favorite track. At the end of the season we'll tally up all the entries and whichever track has the most racers following the series will receive the special Pizza Race.
It is a win-win-win situation!
The racers win by having us provide custom awards specially made for this race, bringing prizes for the Dog Days Door Prize Game, and ordering Pizza's for all registered racers at the race. The winning track wins by having a trophy race without having to do any of the work involved and also gets to keep the net profits. All tracks will get larger entries for their Dog Days race.
We're going to be making a change to how to calculate the series points. We will be separating each position by 2 points instead of the 1 point like we have been doing. We wanted to do this to ensure that the racer who wins the A-main walks away with the most points at the end of the day.
This season we will be selling event shirts at cost and will start taking pre-orders shortly. There will be an early bird discount for those who pre-order their event shirts.
As I'm sure you've already noticed that we've officially dropped the "of summer" from the series name now so now we're just Dog Days Race Series with an interesting back story.
We created a discussion group for the series so if anyone had any questions about the series, any of the upcoming races, or whatever you can post it there. We're not allowing sales in the group at this time since there are plenty of groups already for that.
This season we'll be giving out one door prize ticket per registered entry to save you from having to write your name so much.
We will be pricing the additional door prize tickets accordingly. We will only pull from the race entry door prize tickets for the large door prizes and hobby shop gift certificates.
This will provide everyone with an equal opportunity at winning.
We have a few new faces helping out with the series this year and I wanted to take a moment to introduce the team to you.
Ok, it's time for some good news and some bad news.
We'll discuss the bad news first. We've been tracking the entries for every class at each of the races in the series and have noticed a downward trend in the 2wd short course classes as well as stadium truck. This has led us to the decision to combine the 2wd short course classes but let's face it, the stock guys are capable of putting down just as fast, if not faster, laps than the mod guys have been. Now for the good news, in an effort to increase the entries in these classes we've worked out a deal with the tracks to give a $10 off discount for 2wd Short Course Truck or 2wd Stadium Truck entries. We are willing to consider adding the stock classes back to these classes if we see the entry counts bounce back up so if you'd like to see that happen make sure you bring them out and show your support. Not to mention this should also bring more competition into these classes making them even more fun.
Ok boys and girls, it's time to get your calendars out and mark down these dates.
Here is the full schedule for the 4th season of the Dog Days Race Series.
I think that's about all of the big announcements for this time.
