Exotek Kyosho RB6 Aluminum Steering Cranks
$19.95

It is no doubt the Kyosho RB6 is a race winning buggy as Jared Tebo proved that at the 2013 IFMAR 2wd World Championship. While the buggy is a strong contender right out of the box, one of its "weak points" is the stock plastic steering cranks. Many experience no issues, but others find them to be weak and break under heavy impacts.

In an effort to eliminate the worry of breaking steering cranks, Exotek released their heavy duty aluminum steering cranks for the RB6 platform. We decided to give them a try, as we were among those who have experienced breakage in the stock cranks.

Pros:
  • Precision machined and are a direct replacement, no modifications necessary.
  • Greatly increases durability.
  • Available in red or black.
Cons:
  • Is there really a con to keeping your car from breaking?
Conclusion:
Overall we are very happy with the Exotek RB6 Aluminum Steering Cranks, as they do in fact eliminate the breakage found using the stock plastic cranks. They are not the cheapest on the market, nor are they the most expensive. We have always been impressed with the fit, performance, and look of Exotek products in the past, and are very satisfied with this purchase as well.

JConcepts TLR 22 Front Axle Conversion
$21.25
When it comes to the Team Losi Racing 22 series buggies, one of the most common frustrations is the front axle setup. The stock front axle assembly uses a screw type design to lock your front wheels in place. While there is no real performance or durability issues to speak of, it can be a little frustrating trying to get all of the puzzle pieces together when putting your wheels on. JConcepts addressed the "issue" by releasing their TLR22 Front Axle Conversion set.

This conversion simply replaces the stock axles and wheel screws with a threaded front axle and nut design. We decided to give the new axles a try for ourselves.

Pros:
  • Easy to assemble, and is a direct fit.
  • Replaces front wheel screws with 4mm nuts.
  • Front wheel nuts are easier to get a good fit, tighten, and loosen than stock screws.
  • The low-profile wheel nuts (included) are serrated to hold on tight.
  • Made of high grade steel, and are quite durable.
Cons:
  • With the extended threaded axle design, as opposed to the stock design, your chances of breaking an axle are arguably increased in a hard impact.
Conclusion:
Overall we are very happy with the JConcepts TLR22 Front Axle Conversion. Is this a necessary performance enhancing upgrade? No, but it is slightly less frustrating than working with the stock screws, and it sets your buggy apart from the others.

Each week outside of the R/C world we test out and use a variety of items in our daily routines that have absolutely nothing to do with R/C, and THIS is what we think of them!

McDonald's Egg White Delight
$3.29

Being the new year, I thought I would try a little something new this morning for breakfast. As I was in a slight hurry to get to work on time, I made a quick pit stop at the trusty McDonalds. In an effort to be healthy this year, I saw fit that I eat the healthiest thing on the menu, an "Egg White Delight." I was pretty excited with my order, and really looked forward to what I was about to receive at the second window...that is, until I arrived at the second window.

Outside the window seemed to be some sort of strange odor, like maybe a dead cat in the nearby trash can or something. I began breathing through my mouth so the smell wouldn't ruin my appetite. The nice lady handed me my food, and I sped away. Well clear of the trash can, I resumed my normal breathing. Once again the smell was among me, but this time it was even stronger. I tried my best to ignore it, and unwrapped my "Egg White Delight".

As I began to take a bite, I realized that there was in fact no dead cat in that trash can, it was MY sandwich. Apparently something about mixing a round piece of mystery meat, slippery/almost cooked egg whites, a slice of unknown cheese, and a dusty muffin bun creates an odor like none other.

Pros:
  • Picture looks good.
  • Sounds healthy.
  • The muffin bun is designed to be crisp and delicious.
  • Only costs $3.29.
Cons:
  • Picture looks good because you can't smell a picture.
  • It is healthy, because the stink of it is so bad you won't eat it.
  • The muffin bun is crisp, so crisp that it leaves muffin dust all over your clothes, hands, and face.
  • Costs $3.29 in which I would have rather put in a blender and poured down the toilet.
Conclusion:
I admire the men and women behind the McDonalds corporation for creating such a fast food empire, but I have to be the one say it...this sandwich is AWFUL. There is nothing good that comes from an "Egg White Delight", with the exception of using it to prank your buddy by hiding the smell-acious thing under the passenger seat of his car.
