When it comes to the Team Associated C4.2 mid-motor conversion kit, there is no doubt that it is a race winning platform. One of its major downfalls, however, is rear tower and mounting locations. The stock tower lacks the inner most pivot mount, which is most commonly used on the B4 buggy. JConcepts recognized this, and put together a C4.2 rear suspension kit of their very own.
The kit includes an all CNC machined aluminum rear bulkhead which has been trimmed, narrowing the stance allowing more room for narrow rear pivot camber link adjustments. In addition a 4mm Carbon Fiber shock tower has all the necessary adjustments including the standard outer (C4.2) camber link positions and the newly added inboard camber link holes to accommodate a narrow pivot rear suspension. Last, but not least the stock wing mounts place the wing extremely high on the vehicle, raising the center of gravity and increasing the pendulum effect of the rear-end. JC has included a set of durable aluminum wing mounts that place the wing more than 7mm lower than stock.
Pros:- Brings back the inner pivot mount that is the most common setup for the B4.
- Lowers the wing to a more normal height.
- The inner ballstud location is a must for most track conditions - the stock C4 lacks this and often times it limits the car's capability out of the box.
- The tower is much stronger than the stock tower.
- Milled carbon fiber and blue aluminum looks awesome.
Cons:- Heavier than stock.
- Somewhat expensive.
Conclusion: The JConcepts C4.2 rear suspension kit has a lot of parts, so it only makes sense that it costs a little bit more. It is also a little heavier than stock, BUT the performance gain outweighs either of these two things BY FAR. This kit is an absolute must if you are racing the C4.2, as it is no secret that 99% of the factory AE drivers are using this kit (or a similar one) in order to use the inner pivot location that the stock parts are lacking. We highly recommend this product, as this is something we feel should have come standard on the C4, but didn't. If you plan to race on dirt, go ahead and spend the extra money. Trust us on this one... you won't be disappointed.
